pain relief
After discharge, you will notice any after-effects. This can include swollen lips for a few days, possibly with blisters, drooling and choking, and bad breath. Usually these problems are temporary and the child adjusts quickly, but if you still experience difficulty drinking and swallowing, baby clicking, or shortness of breath from interfering with closing or opening the mouth, contact us.
Helping babies with pain:
- Breastfeeding and skin to skin contact
- breast milk ice cream
- Exercise: Walk around with the child, do squats, or bouncy on an exercise ball
- Paracetamol suppositories
Give your baby time to drink slowly while breathing sufficiently and not overloading the stomach.
It is now also important to keep the child fit with mouth exercises and to change the diaper or feed it if it is crying.
